Door Frame Combinations for The Three Silos Zeeburgereiland Amsterdam

The three historic water treatment silos on Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam are being given a second life as a vibrant meeting place. Elephant Architecture is adding contemporary rooftop extensions, including a green rooftop park at a height of 20 meters, offering spectacular views over Amsterdam and the Markermeer.

The silos will soon form the beating heart of the Sportheldenbuurt district — a place where history and modern design come together in a unique and lively atmosphere. Sustainability is central to the project: reuse of materials, green roofs, rainwater harvesting, and biodiversity make this a circular and future-proof development with a BREEAM Outstanding certification.

The plan

The silos will offer a mix of hospitality, culture, sports, and workspaces.

  • Film theater Rialto will be located in the west silo, featuring five cinema halls, a café, and a rooftop bar.
  • The central silo will become home to SILO gym, flexible workspaces, and hospitality venues.
  • In the east silo, Ramzy Group will create atmospheric hospitality spaces with sunny rooftop terraces.
  • Several floors will be flexibly available for events and rental.

Construction started in September 2024 and will take approximately two years.
