Steel Door Frames for Cinema De Geus – Leiden

The station area of Leiden is transforming from a busy traffic hub into an attractive urban destination. This zone forms the transition between the modern, large-scale campus of the university medical center and the small-scale, historic city center.

The multifunctional building De Geus plays a key role in this transformation. With a robust brick plinth that matches the scale and character of the inner city, and a light, iconic tower that marks the entrance to the station area, De Geus connects two worlds.

Client
Gemeente Leiden

Contractor

The plan

The building offers an urban mix of functions under one roof:

  • An eight-screen cinema
  • A conference center
  • Various restaurants and shops
  • A public bicycle parking facility with approximately 3,000 spaces
  • 96 apartments
  • An inviting rooftop garden

Completion of this new urban landmark is scheduled for the first half of 2028.

Our contribution

ALARAs Contribution: Steel door frames for a vibrant city heart

On behalf of our client Akor BV, we supply and install the steel door frame assemblies — fitted with perfectly finished door leaves — for the cinema in De Geus. These high-quality, durable doors contribute to the building’s sound insulation, safety, and overall appearance. The doors will be installed in the first quarter of 2027.

We are proud of our contribution to this forward-looking project that uniquely combines living, recreation, and culture in the heart of Leiden.
